company profile

Working with hardwood flooring has been in the DuBois family for three generations.

In 1950 Guy’s grandfather, Frank Dubois relocated from Ontario to the Lower Mainland of BC. A salesman had talked him into purchasing floor sanding equipment and he spent the next few years taking on contract jobs for various hardwood companies. Eventually, Frank bought into his own business – Northern Floors – in Prince George.

Frank’s son, Don, started learning the hardwood trade from his father at the age of sixteen. Don worked for his dad at Northern Floors until 1966, when he moved to Vancouver he worked for Craftsman Floors. From there, Don went to work for Beatty Floors/BC Hardwood. This company also owned Inlaid Floors/BC Hardwood in Nanaimo and sent him over there occasionally to work on hardwood flooring projects, which eventually led to Don moving his family to Nanaimo.

From there Don Dubois and Sons Hardwood Floors was formed, a company that thrived for more than 25 years. Don retired in 2005. By this time, his son Guy was an experienced wood floor tradesman.

After Don retired, Guy started his company, Dubois Wood Floors. With over 27 years experience, Guy specializes in the installation and finishing of all species of wood floors. He is well known for his meticulous attention to detail, quality and knowledge of the trade.
